Buenos dias, estimados, tengo poca experiencia en estas lides de postgres y acabo de instalar un servidor con la version 8.1.17, pero no abre el puerto respectivo.

Cualquier ayuda agradecere

Lo que me funcionó y espero les funcione a quienes usen Windows:

(sacado de otro foro)

ve a PANEL DE CONTROL / HERRAMIENTAS ADMINISTRATIVAS / SERVICIOS

busca el servicio de "PostgreSQL Server 8.3" o "postgresql-8.3" ( en mi caso el 2 me salia inicialmente pero u na vez solucionado el problema se cambio al primero...)

abre el servicio ... vas a la ficha "INICIAR SESSION"; y marca donde dice "Iniciar Sesion como" elije el primero "CUENTA DEL SISTEMA LOCAL" (si es que no estaba marcada) y le das APLICAR.. te saldra un mensaje que diga algo de que tienes q volver a reiniciar el servicio o algo asi... simplemente vas a la primera ficha GENERAL... y le das a INICIAR .... y haber si te inicia .....

repito mi problema no era el mismo q el tuyo.. pero almenos verifica con que cuenta de usuario esta intentando iniciar el postgresql... nada pierdes intentandolo....

Todavía no he podido

He estado revisando el foro y veo que el problema anterior es el mismo que me da a mi, yo trato de instalarpero no me deja y se repite el error de no escucha.. he revisado el tema de los permisos a mi usuario. Trataré de isntalar de nuevo el programa pero hasta la fecha nada...

Restarar BD con un archivo.dump??

buenas tardes
Soy novato pero con mucho interes en manejar postgres
quiero hacer una pregunta referente a como restaurar una BD con un archivo que me pasaron el archivo es .dump.gz en primera medida lo descomprimi y me quedo .dump (no sabia si eso estaba bien hacerlo). he estado mirando varia documentacion por Internet y he encntrado una serie de comandos para poderla restaurar pero no ha sido posible. supongo que me hace falta hacer algo para poder hacer esta restauracion; lo que he hecho es lo siguiente:
yo tengo instalado posgresql 8.3 en winXP
1. abri pgadminIII pero el solo permite hacer restore de .sql osea qe por aca no pude
2.luego abri psql donde me abrio en modo consola y me pidio la clave de usuario la ingrese y ejecute el siguiente comando:
cat nombredb.pgdump | psql nombredb
y no me mostro ningun error y quedo en espere como de otra instruccion o comando y lo cerre.
luego intente correr este otro
% createdb nombredb
% gunzip -c nombrefichero.dump.gz | psql nombredb
y luego este
% cat nombrefichero.dump.gz | gunzip | psql nombredb
y lo mismo, en ninguno de los tres muestra error pero parece que o ejecuta nada.
pienso depronto que el archivo hay que ubicarlo en alguna parte especial. Pues la verdad Tengo esa duda.
de antemano perdonen si la respuesta es muy sencilla, pero les repito que soy novato en postgres.

Levantar el servicio PostgreSQL Server 8.3

Hola a todos:
Soy nuevo con postgreSQL(v8.3.7) y despues de leer y probar y probar he conseguido que funcione (con windows xp) con dos cosillas:
La primera, los permisos ya comentados aquí sobre la carpeta data necesarios para evitar el error de "listen..." y luego en el pg_hba.conf he puesto las siguentes lineas para poder dar el servicio a multiples clientes.

Error al Instalar OpenBravo

Hola Buen dia, tengo este problema al instalar el ERP OpenBravo, me sale lo siguiente al tratar de conectar la base de4 datos de PostgreSQL:

Could not connect to server
Connection refused (0x0000274D/D10061) Is the server running on host "127.0.0.1" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

La version de PostgreSQL: 8.3
La version OpenBravo es la mas reciente
La plataforma es Windows XP Profesional con Service Pack 3

postmaster.pid: Permission denied

tengo el mismo problema "site:http://www.postgresql.org/ postmaster.pid: Permission denied", como hago para obtener los permisos? gracias de antemano

conectando el servidor

Parece que pasa algo similar a lo del usuario anterior.
He tratato de arrancar el servidor y nada lo último fue lo de los permiso a data y nada ya le hecho de todo si alguien puede colaborarme le agradezco.

Gracias a todos por su valiosa colaboracion. Estaba sufriendo por que no queria iniciar postgres ni por nada. Pero Ya modifique los permisos de ejecucion que ustedes nombran y listo.
